  • Royal Descent ready to deliver in the Doncaster

Premier trainer Chris Waller believes Royal Desent is on target to deliver a big pay for a lucky owner for the day in next month’s Doncaster Mile at Randwick.

The mare has recovered well after running into fourth in the George Ryder Stakes last Saturday and is on the upward spiral for her autumn goal in the Doncaster Mile.

Her owner Gerry Harvey has offered a 10 percent share in the mighty mare, which could deliver up to $150,000 to the winner of a competition, which is being run by Fairfax Media and Aushorse, the marketing arm of Thoroughbred Breeders Australia.

“It was a good run in the Ryder – actually it was the perfect second-up run and I think she is on a par with where she was heading into the race last year [when she ran second],” Waller said.

“She has the same weight as last year [in the Doncaster] and I don’t think we could have expected anymore from her in the Ryder.”

Royal Descent was fifth in the Ryder in 2014 before coming out and looking the winner in the Doncaster before being edged out by stablemate Sacred Falls. Waller hopes the trend of going one position better will continue on April 4.

“Her sectional times were very good in the Ryder and we are very happy with her because we know she will be competitive at this level. That is just her,” Waller said.

Royal Descent has been runner-up in all five of her starts at the Randwick 1600m, including three times in group 1s, so is due a change of luck and Harvery hopes the owner for the day can bring that.

The prize includes a tour of Chris Waller’s stables, returned flights for two from the nearest capital city to the winner and two nights of accommodation in a Sydney five-star hotel. The winner will give a race day hospitality package for six.

The winner of the share in Royal Descent will be decided by who comes up with the best name for her first foal. Entry is free and can be made at ownachampion南京夜网.au
