  • Police organise new fun run at Port Fairy

    2018 - 07.03

THE pedal power of this year’s Murray to Moyne Cycle Relay will get a boost from runners pounding the pavement to raise money for Camp Quality.

South-west police and volunteers have put together the inaugural Blue Light Fun Run to coincide with the finish of the annual statewide fund-raiser in Port Fairy on Saturday.

The community and youth event will include a five-kilometre run and a junior 1500-metre sprint for entrants aged under 16.

Leading Senior Constable John Keats said the fun run was set up with help from the Warrnambool Athletics Club after a request from the bike ride’s organisers.

“The Murray to Moyne asked if we could run something for people waiting for respective teams to come in,” Leading Senior Constable Keats said.

“Blue Light generally does the dance parties so we want to branch out to get kids involved in regular physical activity. We’re hoping to run it every year.” The race starts at 10am after 9am registrations at Railway Place in Port Fairy.
