The project is worth $2 million, but a spokesperson for Regional Infrastructure Minister and Deputy Premier Troy Grant said the exact amount of government funding awarded to CellSera could not be made public forcommercial reasons.

CellSera makes foetal bovine serum, which is acommonly used growth supplement for livestock.

Mr Grant said the funding would mean the creation of 15 new jobs in Rutherford.

The money would come from the Regional Industries Investment Fund and was not an election promise.

“The Hunter plays a vital role in the state’s economy, generating $38.5 billion in economic activity andsupporting some 231,000 jobs, almost a quarter of all regional jobs in NSW,” Mr Grant said.
