You will see a full report of all the basketball insidetoday, along with Birchmore bowlers, who won after a 27year drought – well done – and the Parndana cricketteam, who finally completed their splendid year with awin over MacGillivray.

The island also hosted an international trade delegation, led by Foreign Minister Julie Bishop last Saturday.

If ever you wanted to see a group of positive, likemindedislanders working in a very tight time-frame, topresent the island and its producers in the best light, then this was the event. Ms Bishop and her team wererelaxed and happy during their visit, and as you will seefrom the photos, The Islander had full access, which is ararity these days.

There have been some nasty under-currents in thecommunity lately, particular on facebook sites, knockingsome of our tourist attractions. From the results of lastSaturday, I would urge the knockers to either put up orshut up – anyone involved in hospitality and tourism onthe island should never knock another tourism business- we will only ever succeed if everyone works together.

Make the island an entire one-stop shop for visitorsand we will all prosper. It’s far better to unite then divide!

Also, don’t forget that over Easter, daylight savingtime will come to an end – so move your clocks forwardone hour at 2am on Sunday morning April 5.
