    CHASING GOLD: Michael Formosa is no stranger to Bathurst, having won the 2012 Gold Crown followed by the 2013 Gold Chalice with his stable star Ultimate Art.Fresh from his first crack at an Inter Dominion final Ellalong’s Michael Formosa will attempt to replicate his recent success at the Bathurst Gold ­carnival.

    Formosa has group 1 chances with Milias Ideal and Shadow Runner at Bathurst on Saturday night in the Gold Tiara and Gold Crown finals respectively.

    Formosa is no stranger to Bathurst, having won the 2012 Gold Crown followed by the 2013 Gold Chalice with his stable star Ultimate Art, which went on to run in the 2015 Inter Dominion at Menangle earlier this month.

    This weekend he returns to a happy stomping ground for a pair of $102,000 finals over 1703 metres.

    Formosa will steer Milias Ideal (race five, number 11) in the Gold Tiara final for two-year-old fillies followed by Shadow Runner (race seven, number 10) in the Gold crown final for two-year-old colts and geldings.

    Milias Ideal is also prepared by Formosa while Hunter Valley trainer Sam Dimarco looks after Shadow Runner.

    Dimarco also trains Gotta Go Gold, which will feature in the Gold Crown final and be driven by Jason Proctor of Sawyers Gully.

    Formosa’s other chance on the night will be Ultimate Courage in the group 3 Gold Chalice final (2260m) worth $40,800.

    Keinbah pair, trainer Shane Tritton and driver Lauren Panella, will team up with Artistic Flite in the same race.

    Elsewhere on the card Tritton has Ohoka Utah and Panella has Essbee Doubleyou in the Mayors Cup.

    In the opener, Gold Bracelet Consolation, Barry Matterson and Guy Chapple combine with Rainbow Sue and Raymond Terrace trainer-driver Paul Bourke has Always Amy. Chapple and Darren Elder are also in the last, the Gold Tiara Consolation, with drives on Rockmemama and Winsome Moolah respectively.

    Gillieston Heights trainer-driver Peter Hedges will control inside runner Im Saint Anthony in the Gold Chalice Consolation.

    Event kick starts at 6.10pm.

    Closer to home and Newcastle Harness Racing Club will host an eight-race meeting today from 1.22pm.
